RYA DI Training Pre-Assessment
The RYA Pre-Assessment is a mandatory one-day screening designed to verify that a candidate?s sailing skills and boat handling are at the required standard before they enroll in a Dinghy Instructor course. The primary objective is to ensure participants can competently perform maneuvers (e.g. sailing a tight circular course, coming alongside, recovery of man overboard, etc.) under pressure and in various conditions. By filtering for technical proficiency upfront, the day allows the subsequent instructor training to focus on teaching methodology rather than basic sailing ability.
