RYA Safety Boat Awards 16th & 17th March
Well done to Ted, John, Alison and Pat in gaining their RYA Safety Boat Certificates this weekend in a brisk wind. Learning strategies for safety boat positioning and practicing different techniques to recover single-handed dinghies, double-handed dinghies, and windsurfers that had capsized, inverted or had got their masts stuck in the mud. An intensive but very enjoyable course none the less.

Winter Survivor Series
The Winter Survivor Series was won by the tightest of margins today. Both the winner and runner up finished the series on 10 points. Using the RRS 2021-2024 Appendix A Series Ties (A8.1) procedure, it placed Stuart 1st and Lee 2nd. Wil came 3rd with 11 points and Angus 4th with 12 points.

RYA Start Sailing & Stage 1 Awards.
Over the recent weekend of 10th & 11th June we have hosted some really lovely people who wished to learn about sailing. Congratulations to the nine adults who attended our RYA Level 1 Start Sailing course and the eleven youngsters who took part on our RYA Youth Stage 1 course. The glorious weather made Whitemere the perfect setting to learn and enjoy. Huge thanks and appreciation to our fabulous volunteer

RYA Sailability Recognition
We are delighted to have received confirmation from the RYA, that Shropshire Sailing Club has been successful in joining the Sailability Programme. As a Sailability venue, we will be able to offer sailing opportunities to more people.

RYA Dinghy Instructor Course: March 2023
Congratulations to all the new Dinghy Instructors from own club, Chelmarsh SC, Tamworth SC, and Telford SC. Much appreciation to the RYA Coaches Alistair Hodgson and Simon Crawford who had to travel long distances each weekend to lead the aspiring DIs through this course. A great achievement considering the snow and cold weather you have had to deal with on the 2nd weekend. A fantastic result. Well done all.

First Aid Couse - Saturday 28th January
A busy day at the club with our existing and aspiring RYA Instructors undertaking their first aid course. Well done everyone all passed. Thank you to Chris Hughes from CHMAS for instructing and guiding everyone through the different segments of the course.

Commodore's Autumn Regatta - Sunday 25th September
The last of three seasonal regattas takes place on Sunday 25th September. Always a popular event to compete in and hone racing skills against others. The format will be the same as previously. 10.15am first start. Four general handicap races. No discards, three or more boats of the same class get their own start with prizes for the winners.

Youth Sailing Regatta - Saturday 24th September
Our annual Youth Sailing Regatta is taking place on 24th September. It is open to all youth members (full and affiliate) at Shropshire SC. Three General Handicap races of approximately 40 minutes in length. Two in the morning and one after lunch. Briefing 10.00am, First start 10:30. ITCA - Midlands Open Training Event. Sunday 29th May 2022
We have been given the privilege of hosting one of the International Topper Class Association (ITCA) Midland Open Training Events on Sunday 29th May. The day is run by ITCA coaches giving young racers top tips to improve their racing skills.
